Student Life

Lyme School Students Playing with Silly Putty

Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

  • Monthly Town Meetings (student led assemblies which showcase student work, presentation of students of the month, dance group performance)
  • National Circus Project week-long workshops every other year. Performers work with students in PE classes, culminating in a Grade 4 and 5 student circus at the end of the week. Gives students who may not shine in academics or sports another avenue to showcase their unique talents.
  • Participation in Kids Marathon, an 8-10 week "In School" running & nutrition education program that enables kids to complete a full marathon (26.2 miles) by running approximately 3 miles per week. Throughout the program, kids learn the value of good exercise and nutrition habits for healthy living. The program is completed as each child finishes the "Final Mile Celebration" of their marathon distance in front of cheering fans, friends and family.
  • Fifth grade participation in the Connecticut Invention Convention. We have had students selected for both State and National representation.
  • Strong PTO involvement. They provide many cultural programs for students. This year we had an African choir, a S.T.E.A.M. Museum and a one-handed author presentation. The PTO also puts on a yearly "Curiosity Shop," a once-weekly, four week opportunity for students to learn new skills, such as knitting, fencing, coding, art, gardening, origami, etc.
  • Young Author's Day. We have a local author come in and speak with students in small groups. Students also write their own books, which are bound and shared with other students.
